Welcome to Clay Shooting. Our private Sporting layout is landscaped around a lake with a variety of targets available. Shooting is from purpose built stands, some over the water, another from high steps, others from within the trees, aiming to accurately simulate game shooting. Novices, intermediate and experienced shots will all find some targets that are within their grasp and others will challenge their abilities. Towers, oscillating targets, rapid firing clay traps add to the variety of shooting available.
Shane Smith M.I.P.S.S & A.I.C.S is the resident clay shooting instructor and offers CPSA and IPSSCHOOLS endorsed Introduction to Clay Shooting Courses. These involve around 45 minutes in the log cabin classroom over looking the lake, followed by 25-30 shots at clay targets out on the range. The total time allowed should be 1 3/4 hours for one person, 2 1/4 hours for 2 people . . . . A certificate of course completion is given and the emphasis is on learning safe gun handling skills which will stay with you for the rest of your shooting career. No previous experience is required for this course and all equipment is provided.
Following on from the Introduction to Clay Shooting and for those who are experience shooters, we offer a CPSA and IPSSCHOOLS endorsed Novice Lesson. 25-30 shot lessons take around 1 hour per person and 65-70 shot lessons take approximately 1 ½ hours per person.
Sport Trap is a shooting discipline shot over a compact sporting layout. It is great fun for a group of five shooters but we also teach it on an individual lesson basis.
FITASC is a shooting discipline shot from hoops. Shane teaches IPSSCHOOLS FITASC courses as endorsed by FITASC 2006 World Champion, Ben Husthwaite.
Trap is a shooting discipline which requires a combination of technical skills and mental preparation. Shane offers an IPSSCHOOLS Trap Speciality Course.
Pigeon Decoying Lesson. Tuition is given in the deployment of pigeon decoys and shooting simulated pigeon targets.
For people wishing to ‘experience’ clay shooting in a safe environment, our ‘Experience Clay Shooting’ may be relevant. A short classroom session is immediately followed by 25-30 shots on the range. This may be enjoyed as a single activity as it lasts for around 45 minutes, or combined with Experience Sessions of other field sports.
The latest Beretta shotguns are used for the Shooting with Hull low recoil cartridges for a pain free experience. Smaller gauge guns are available for younger shots.
Clay Shooting sessions may be organized for the Morning or Afternoon. Refreshments of tea/coffee, soft drinks and biscuits are provided
